Project ASA - Amsterdam Street Art

History

The Amsterdam Street Art (ASA) Foundation was founded in 2010, and initially started by Nicole Blommers and Jarno Gnirrep in 2009. Their idea was to give street art its recognition in Amsterdam and create an event to promote this. It was soon named Project Amsterdam Street Art.

In June 2010 Project ASA’s first event was organized. Artist from not only Netherlands, but also countries such as Italy, Belgium, England, Canada, Germany and USA were invited to Amsterdam. The line-up was most definitely one worth organizing and not to forget visiting. Artists: Orticanoodles, Indigo, K74, FAKE, NOL, FarkFk, Ives. One, Hugo Kaagman, Bue the Warrior, Chase, Recal One, The London Police, Pez, GALO and Flying Fortress. All artists participated in various events and exhibitions. Whether it was at BEP’s window gallery, Bob’s Youth Hostel, Outland Store, GO Gallery, The Thought Gallery and the already infamous I Amsterdam logo paint jam on Museumplein.

The positive feedback from both artists, visitors, partners and media, succeeded our expectations of what we wanted to achieve with Project ASA. It gave us a positive vibe that Amsterdam is definitely ready for street art and we are here to give it that extra needed boost.
