The opening of our current exhibition “Abstractalizm” was a big success. It’s probably the combination of great artworks, nice and beautiful people, a lovely cocktail and some fresh tunes that visitors enjoy this night out and buy art.
We invited 7 different artists to be part of this show, all specialized in abstract art with a flavor of urban culture. Think bold colors, lines, murals and patterns. Abstract art can’t be explained precisely in words, because it effects people personal. It’s an experience. An experience u must come and see at art’otel.
After the opening we like to give you a small insight of the participating artist’s mind so we asked them a few questions about their work as an artist & include some fun facts.
We introduce to you: Mr. june
Hailing from the street scene of Rotterdam, Mr. June has marked his territory in Paris, Miami, Stockholm and many more places. Beginning as a Bboy-breakdancer in the nineties, he started to do graffiti in 1985. Y&R Amsterdam (advertising agency) recognized his talents and in 1997, before he even graduated, they pulled him in as their art director.
Now, Mr. June has soaked up the knowledge over the years to create his own style in the street art scene. His style is based on harmonizing his graffiti roots into graphic design and abstract art.
We know Mr. June as a flexible artist to work with. In the past we have done art exhibitions and collaborated during several commissioned projects, like the Italian dome that he painted for our client in Italy.
Why do you want to make and sell art?
It’s what I do all my life.. I create, cook and breathe…
do you have a weird habit while creating?
No weird habits. When I paint I always listen to music, then I am in my happy place. When I am in my happy place I am the little boy inside me, so once a while I make funny sounds while trying to sing along.
Can you describe your ideal working environment?
My ideal working environment is a huge space with friends.
