Another day, another piece has been crossed, I’m getting a bit tired of painting in Amsterdam, this is the 7th time this week. I’m gonna clear my mind and skip painting today. Maybe another city can provide me with some distraction.
At 12 o’clock in the afternoon I got on the train to Utrecht Central. After being on the train for 27 minutes, I had reached my destination.
My stomach was screaming for food, it was already time for lunch. I’ve been told when you’re in Utrecht you can’t really leave without tasting the well-known “Broodje Mario“. The men behind the counter are super relaxed and provide you with a typical Utrecht delicatesse.
Because of the nice weather, all the places on the terrace were occupied and it was time to find another place to eat my Broodje Mario. After a short walk I arrived at the Abraham Doleklooster, a beautiful and a very relaxing spot in the center of Utrecht.
While eating my sandwich some nice pieces, tags and throwies keeps spinning my mind. Damn the urge to paint has overrules my motivation to visit a different city and relax a bit…
I swore I wouldn’t paint today but I couldn’t hold it any longer, it was time to buy some paint and to find a spot!
There are several shops in Utrecht where you can buy your paint, for example, Blue Tomato, Prime and Swaak. Swaak is the closest shop from the Abraham Doleklooster and Utrecht Centraal, so this seemed the most logical option to me.
At Swaak they sell different brand cans, Belton, Montana Black and Montana Gold. Swaak is not only specialized in aerosol cans, but in fact everything that has to do with art.
After getting the paint I was ready to paint, but perhaps the most important question was, where? In Utrecht you have several hall of fame’s such as in Maarssen, under the Galecopperbrug and the Berlijnplein, Leidsche Rijn.
The hall of fame that appealed to me the most was Berlijnplein. Lots of walls, big walls and enough space, everything a writer needs. I’ve been told Berlijnplein is a place where skateboarding, graffiti and the youth connect with each other, a place worth taking a look.
The hall of fame that appealed to me the most was Berlijnplein. The distance between Leidsche Rijn and Utrecht Centraal is very minimal and it is a easy route. You can either go with the bus or the train from Utrecht Centraal. I went with the train because it is a little faster, it is only a 4 minute train ride. When you arrive at the station by train you can almost smell the paint already. It is a simple 2 minute walk from the station to the hof.
